Media Statement on BC Hydro’s Electrification Plan
Vancouver, BC – Michael Goehring, President and CEO of the Mining Association of British Columbia (MABC) made the following statement on BC Hydro’s Electrification Plan:
“MABC is supportive of the Electrification Plan announced by the provincial government and BC Hydro. BC’s mines are among the lowest-emitting in the world, thanks in large part due to British Columbia’s vast supply of clean, renewable hydroelectricity. Our industry will continue to partner with the BC Government and BC Hydro to support the ongoing implementation of emission-reducing technologies as they become available. Collectively, the CleanBC Facilities Electrification Fund, Energy Manager program, CleanBC Industrial Incentive Program and CleanBC Industry Fund have proven effective in supporting the work to meet climate change targets.
