VANCOUVER, BC – Michael Goehring, President & CEO at the Mining Association of British Columbia (MABC), made the following statement in response to Prime Minister Carney’s announcement of the second tranche of nation-building projects referred to the Major Projects Office (MPO):
“MABC is pleased to see the North Coast Transmission Line added to the Major Projects Office (MPO) portfolio which will enable a generational opportunity to develop critical mineral and precious metal projects in Northwest and Central BC to provide $46 billion in economic activity, thousands of well-paid jobs, and much needed government revenue.
“We also welcome the referral of the Northwest Critical Conservation Corridor to the MPO which will help ensure a wholistic approach to addressing infrastructure needed to unleash the full economic potential of BC’s mineral resources in this iconic global mining district in partnership with First Nations.
“MABC looks forward to working with the federal and provincial government to grow Canada’s position as a reliable supplier of critical minerals to build economic resilience and to advance national security in these challenging times.”
