VANCOUVER, BC – Michael Goehring, President & CEO of the Mining Association of British Columbia (MABC) made the following statement on Centerra Gold having received an amended environmental assessment certificate and related permits to extend the Mount Milligan copper-gold mine’s operations to 2035:

“The Mining Association of BC is very pleased the Province has approved the mine extension at Centerra Gold’s Mount Milligan mine.

“Permitting the continuation of Mount Milligan’s operations through 2035 means more than 1,000 ongoing and well-paid jobs for BC workers, business opportunities for First Nations, and ongoing stability for service and supply businesses in northern communities and urban centres.

“It is encouraging to see results from the Province’s initiative to expedite permitting and authorizations for mining projects like Mount Milligan. We encourage the Province to maintain a laser focus on, and accelerate, its efforts to permit critical mineral, precious metal, and steelmaking coal mine projects throughout the Central Interior and elsewhere in the British Columbia.”
