Operations Manager

The Mining Association of BC (MABC) is seeking an Operations Manager (30 hours, 4-days per week) to support the organization’s day-to-day functions. Reporting to the President and CEO, this role is central to the smooth functioning of the organization, strategic execution, strong governance practices, and sound financial administration. The Operations Manager is a highly capable, detail-oriented professional who enjoys being at the centre of an organization and bringing structure to complexity. The successful candidate thrives in a small-team environment, operates as a trusted partner to senior leaders, and serves as the key connector for a member-driven organization in a growing and crucial sector of the economy.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Executive & Office Operations Support – provide operational and administrative support to the President and CEO and leadership team; support leadership team in tracking execution of strategic plan; manage meeting coordination, calendars, travel arrangements, and logistics; oversee office operations, systems, and processes; act as key contact for internal and external inquiries.
  • Board & Governance Support – support board and committee governance, including scheduling, agendas, materials, and minutes; prepare, manage, and maintain board documents and records; ensure timely distribution of board materials and liaise with directors.
  • Financial Administration – oversee day-to-day financial affairs, including revenue and expense management; coordinate invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, and financial tracking; monitor budget and reporting in collaboration with the President and CEO and accountant.
  • External Engagement & Coordination – engage and coordinate with members on operational and administrative matters; engage with external suppliers, consultants, and other trade and business organizations; support contracts, renewals, and vendor relationships.
  • General Operations & Continuous Improvement – enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness; support cross-functional activities as required; contribute to a positive, professional, and well-organized workplace.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • University degree or college diploma in arts, commerce, accounting, or a similar field
  • Demonstrated experience in operations or office management, executive support, or a similar role
  • Skill and confidence in supporting senior leaders. Previous experience with managing Boards is a plus
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills
  • Solid financial administration or bookkeeping experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the capacity to build positive relationships
  • High level of discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Solutions-oriented, with a mindset for continuous improvement
  • Comfortable working independently and collaborating closely with a small team
  • Energized by contributing to a mission-driven organization and a small, collegial team
